Prayer After the Hurricane – Ike

July 9, 2009

Abba, there has been so much on my heart for Your people and for Your leaders. Major storms have buffeted our country. There are parts of Your body who have lost everything. You have leaders who have been left with nothing, yet they continue to minister to others who also have nothing. Please touch each and every one who has been effected by these storms. Bring to them the help and supplies they need. Strengthen them and comfort them. Heal them, Abba, in all that they need healing of. I pray that all of Your body will be there helping the leaders as they reach out to their communities with hope in You in the wake of this disaster.

Abba, please help Your leaders to stand strong and firm in Your word and in the faith. I know it is so hard in a world where those who are in the limelight as Christians come out in open acceptance of sinful lifestyles. There are many who will be led astray by these examples and Your leaders and Your people need to know how to minister in love to those who are deceived. Convict us all to pray for and love others and to remember that there, but for Your grace, go us all.

Abba, I pray that, in Yeshua, the broken hearted and wounded will find healing. I pray that the weak will find strength and the lonely will find fellowship. I pray that the proud will be humbled and the downtrodden will be lifted up. May the poor find sustenance and those of us who have been blessed with much share all we have in Your true service. May we all give of ourselves in every way we can to You and to the things of Your heart and purpose.

Convict us all, O Lord. Bring us to repentance. Revive those of us who have gone to sleep and become spiritually dead. May we love You with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength and love our neighbors as ourselves. Teach us what it means to fully and completely love You. Teach us what it means to love ourselves as You love us. Teach us what it means to love others as ourselves.

Thank You for being our heavenly Abba. Thank You for being what our earthly fathers could not be…not even the best of them. Thank You for being there for us…any time…night or day…for us to run to. Thank You for sending Your Son Yeshua to pay the penalty for us so that we can come boldly to Your throne of grace. Thank You for being You! Amen and amen!
